No prerequisites required!

Wanting to write the perfect election season sketch, or satirize your favourite binge-able show? This class is designed for those who know the basics of sketch writing and want to dive further into more specialized satire/parody! Over 8 weeks, we will cover different genres of satire, including Sci-Fi, Period/Historical, Political, Horror, and Pop Culture using different sketch comedy styles such as commercial parody, talk show, and front-facing video character sketch. Students will write sketches in each genre at least once, with the last two weeks reserved for students to further practice the genre of their choice. Using the feel of a writer's room, each week students will have the chance to share work, and give and receive constructive feedback.

About The Teacher

Megan Sass is a writer and comedian. They have written for Reductress Magazine, The NBC Diversity Showcase, Seed & Spark series F*CK YES, Heeb Magazine, and Spoiled Media. Their comedy sketches have racked up more that 3 million views on Youtube, and been featured on College Humor, Playboy Magazine, and Gothamist, HuffPo, the New York Observer and more. Their narrative projects include the television comedy pilot “Bible Park” (ISA Table Read My Screenplay Comedy Genre winner), “The Mad Scientist’s Guide To Romance, Robots, and Soul-Crushing Loneliness” (TimeOutNY NYC Fringe Critic’s Pick), and In the Middle (Coverfly Red List #1 Stageplay early December 2023). They are currently developing the show Recolonizers for the LA Fringe with Pack instructors Keisha Zollar and Andy Kimler.
